Hello! So today I thought I’d take a minute to write a little post about the inspiration behind my designs. 

There are many things that inspire me, but first and foremost it is mostly the forms, patterns and textures found in nature. You know that moment when you are scrolling through Pinterest and you come upon a macro image of lichen, a skeleton leaf or even fungi? Yep! And you think – wow aren’t these natural forms little works of art.

I’m lucky enough to live in the countryside so inspiration is always on my doorstep. Intricate patterns of bark on tress, acorn cups, catkins even. I’m also live not far from the sea. There’s nothing better than walking along the beach on a blustery day looking for little treasures such as shells, interesting pebbles etc. 

We enjoy regular holidays to Cornwall and I find it’s rugged coastline a continual source if inspiration. From rock pools to the rock formations along the coast. I try to capture some of that beauty in my designs in an abstract way.

I'm Gail and I design and make fine silver jewellery from my little studio in the South Downs.I’m a little bit obsessed with the organic textures, patterns and forms found in nature and try to capture these in my jewellery in an abstract way. I love asymmetry and the “perfectly imperfect”. My silver jewellery features little pops of colour using semi precious stones and small cubic zirconia gems peeping out through the silver. I also design pieces with resin, in either deep, jewel like colours or softer, muted tones. Both mean my jewellery is affordable and perfect for every day wear.I started designing and making silver jewellery at the beginning of 2020. I make my pieces from Precious Metal Clay. Like ceramic clay it can be molded, textured and shaped into various forms. Made from recycled silver combined with an organic binder, once the piece has been shaped and prefinished it is fired either in a kiln or with a torch. When the binder burns off you are left with a piece of silver jewellery with a silver content of 99.9%. The possibilities are endless which is why this is such an exciting material to work with!I'm completely obsessed with nature's shapes and forms and particularly the textures and patterns found in the natural world. Everything from ripples on the ocean to lichen growing on trees. I don't like symmetry and this is reflected in my designs! Each piece of jewellery is individually handmade – from shaping, texturing and decorating; sanding, firing and polishing. I enjoy experimenting with different tools to see what kind of textures and patterns I can achieve. This all means that no two pieces are exactly the same. I also design in small, limited batches which means your piece of jewellery will be one of only a few made.
