I am a full time artist based in Angus, Scotland. I am lucky enough to have exhibited my work across the world. I paint the land and seascapes of Scotland….. and sometimes, the odd critter. I love being in a place and then trying to re-produce some of the energy I have felt, back at the studio. I do this through lots of mark making, building up thick layers of paint and carefully selecting the right colours for the piece. My style of painting has evolved in to a free-flowing, intuitive process, which I find good for the soul. I usually work in acrylics. I like how the paint dries quickly so I can add layer upon layer, then scratch into the surface to add texture. My aim, when I’m painting, is to bring a little bit of the outdoors, indoors so the memories of ‘being in nature’, are never too far away.
