My name is Renate Wilbraham and I am a stitch artist.
I have embroidered since I was a teenager, and over the years I have used both traditional and machine embroidery techniques.
My inspiration is the environment, from what I might find at the bottom of the garden or from far flung places.
How I create a piece of embroidery depends on whatever approach feels right. It might be traditional hand stitching or using my sewing machine as a drawing tool, which I then often embellish with acrylic inks.
Each embroidery is individual and unique, usually framed and glazed for protection.
