I have always loved sewing. From early childhood I would watch my mother sew, beg scraps of fabric from her to make dresses for my dolls, learned to use the sewing machine as soon as I was big enough to reach the foot pedal. I started making bags a few years ago, starting off simple using useful and pretty fabrics. Then we moved to the east coast and I have been inspired by the beautiful Suffolk countryside and seaside to create my own ‘pretty fabrics’, mainly seascapes, using techniques such as applique, patchwork and embroidery. I use an embroidery machine for more sophisticated patterns. Now I have moved beyond bags to make fabric art and have even had some of art framed and displayed in galleries and sold. My creative life keeps me sane. I wonder where it will lead me next.
I work part time from home for an educational publisher. I have been married to my wonderful husband for over 40 years. I have 3 grown up children, 2 grandchildren and 2 border collie furry children.
