I began Hide & Sew as a means to spend more time doing the things I am passionate about and trying to create a life where I can earn my living being creative.
Everything I make is 100% made by hand. That means I cut the leather by hand, Hand stitch the leather and burnish the edges by hand.
All stitching is done using the traditional saddle stitch method, which results in a stitch that has the strength and integrity to last a lifetime.
I only use full grain, vegetable tanned leather. I chose this leather for its strength, rich colour and natural look. It has an amazing feel and the smell is unbelievable. This leather also forms a fantastic smooth patina overtime, aging with you and adding depth to the story of the items made with it.
Due to the fact this leather is full grain it may contain scars and blemishes and there will be variation in surface texture and colour, making every item unique.
