Description
This is a very special design, a stained glass panel entirely handmade using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A ‘picture’ of a Welsh coastal view. With a little artistic licence, a view to Snowdonia via Harlech Castle. I can’t paint with paints and a brush but I can put different textures and colours of glass together to form a picture.
I’ve used some lovely ripple textured glass, iridescent, for the sea and the river. The blue sky has white scudding clouds. The mountains have folds of different greens and I’m pretty sure that that is Harlech Castle off to the right across the bridge from the sand dunes and up the hill.
I loved the wonderful sea and mountain views when we visited North Wales recently so please, just stand on that sandy beach and watch the waves breaking on the sea and then behind you admire the mountains of Snowdonia.
I’ve used lots of different shades and textures to give movement. The colours change with the light throughout the day.
Each piece of glass is individually cut, shaped then carefully wrapped in copper foil before all the pieces are soldered together to create the circular suncatcher. Once the pieces are all soldered together I add a ‘frame’ of twisted wire. This gives the suncatcher neatness and also strength. I then add little wire rings for hanging.
The suncatcher hangs from a strong silver chain which is securely attached to the wire rings at the top. I always supply a strong suction hook so it comes ready for you to hang. I would recommend that this, to be safe , would be better hanging from a proper hook rather than suction hooks as it is quite heavy.
I am very pleased indeed with this piece which looks quite stunning hanging in the window. It also looks rather good hanging against a wall as a picture.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different shades and textures of glass.
I make several other landscape suncatchers which you can see here.
Please contact me if you would prefer one of the others and can’t find it for sale here in my shop.
Please note that no two of my suncatchers are ever the same even to the same design. I deliberately don’t keep a record of the types of glass used so it is pretty impossible for me to make an exact match and that is my intention. I like all my pieces to be unique and I always use different combinations of glass.
