Description
A 12cm shallow square glass dish, fused in my glass fusing kiln.
My kiln is only small so I make only one-off pieces, no mass production is possible.
Each piece of fused glass I make is unique and very special.
The 12 cm square dish is made from 1 layer of clear glass then topped with 16 small rainbow squares to make a patchwork. I’ve then made it very special by decorating with dichroic glass. It is beautifully bright and cheerful.
Please note that my kiln sometimes plays games with me and this time it has turned the yellow squares into red. I love my kiln fortunately and it has made me a lovely dish even if slightly more red and less yellow than planned.
Dichroic (pronounced “dye-crow-ick”) glass, literally means “two colored.” It is derived from the Greek words “di” for two, and “chroma” for color. It was thus named because of its fantastic multicolour reflective properties. It appears to have more than one color at the same time, especially when viewed with different lighting.
It is all then twice times fired in my kiln, first to full fuse all the glass together, second to slump it over a little mould into a shallow dish shape.
A lovely dish for your trinkets, your earrings or just to enjoy as an ornament.
I find my fused glass pieces very tactile and this dish is lovely to just hold and I rather like to think it might be picked up just to admire the pattern and the colours.
