A large wooden fruit platter made from British Ash. The bowl is hand turned with concentric edge beading and finished in a natural Dorset beeswax.
A wooden fruit platter made from a solid piece of British Ash. The platter is hand-crafted and turned by myself in my Dorset workshop. The finish is Dorset beeswax which is completely natural and shows off the grain in the wood wonderfully, it is also free from chemicals and provides a deep lustre which is easily maintained. The green border is made from a number of concentric beads cut into the surface of the wood, in a couple of places some of the short grain has knocked of giving it a rustic finish and shows the wonderful nature of hardwood. The green colour comes from a coloured wax worked deep into the beading. The platter measures 16 inches (40.5cms) in diameter and approximately 3cm deep, ideal for showing off delicious fruit.

All wooden items in my shop are made from scratch and often involves a number of processes, such as glueing, finishing and oiling, each of which takes time and is subject to weather conditions. I specify 2 weeks as the usual order to delivery time and has proved to be mostly achievable, but if the weather is cold, wet and windy, or permutations of all 3, delivery may take a little longer.
