Thank you so much for dropping in on my online shop, MHW_Millinery; here you will find selections from my contemporary hair and millinery accessories, part of a ready to wear collection by The Northumberland Milliner – aka Margaret Woodliff Wright. So that you can know a little more about me, as well as my creative processes, I thought I would write a few words in a short blog post!

From a schoolgirl, I have always had a fascination with fabric, colour, texture and pattern. After a career as a retail buyer for a department store chain, which included buying for such diverse areas as Glass & China; Soft Furnishings & Interior Design; and Haby, Crafts & Materials, and whilst I was delivering a craft courses programme for our customers too, I became entranced with the art of couture millinery, which encapsulates all my interests. I was then fortunate enough to be able to train as a couture milliner, graduating with High Distinctions in 2013 from Leeds Arts University, since when I have been designing and making millinery collections and accessories.

I believe that the right hat, headpiece or hair accessory can make an outfit truly memorable, and since graduation, my personal style has evolved to become “modern contemporary with a vintage twist”. I also have a special interest in using recycled/upcycled products as well as teaching millinery. All my designs are made in my studio in deepest rural North Northumberland. Whilst I am featuring hair and millinery accessories here, if you have a special event coming up or would like to discuss a couture millinery commission, you can find more details of my couture work on www.margaretwoodliffwright.com

Thank you for reading and please do enjoy browsing my listings.
