Is Hand-stamping the same as Engraving?

In essence, no. Hand Stamping gives a more rustic and personal feel than engraved jewellery, which is done by machine. Engraving removes the top layers of metal whereas Hand Stamping acts by method of Metal displacement – literally meaning that the metal is ‘moved elsewhere’. This can leave a lip/risen edge around the letters on the front of your piece and a slight mark on the reverse side it. This unfortunately can not be helped but I do try to minimise this wherever possible.
