Hi,
I thought for my first blog I’d dip into the meaning of flowers. My grandmother, a true Victorian, wouldn’t have white flowers in the house. She told me that they meant death which felt pretty scary to me! When I was growing up, you could take a bunch of flowers to hospital to give to a patient, but whatever happened – make sure you didn’t take white ones!
Personally, I don’t have white lilies in the house. Yes, they are so dramatic and beautiful, but I can’t shake off the feelings of foreboding. Interestingly, in France a friend told me they feel the same way about Chrysanthemums, that she viewed them as a funeral flower and yet, here in England, in any supermarket flower display, you’ll find oodles of Chrysanthemums.
My Magnolia and Lamb’s Ear wreath is a pretty combination of white and pink flowers. The Magnolia symbolize Luck, Longevity and Endurance. The Lamb’s Ear, I just adore in any arrangement with their soft, velvet leaves. They symbolize Guardianship, guardians of the garden , their silvery leaves warding off negativity. So, I guess this door wreath means, Luck, Longevity and Guardianship but whatever else, it really is pretty.
Best Wishes,
