The Lovable Leaf

I have been making cut paper pictures for many years. I hand draw all the shapes and hand cut with scissors. I occasionally use paper punches and I have recently discovered the amazing ‘Cricut’ machine which allows you to draw a shape, scan it in and cut it for you. My preference is still hand cutting though and I love that no two pictures are ever the same. The shapes vary or the colours change and it gives my art a unique and individual feel.

I love being outside and going for walks; my pictures reflect this. I love the colours and shapes that nature creates and I have a particular affection for trees and all those many, varied ‘lovable’ leaves!

The best bit about making my pictures is choosing the patterns and colours of the paper. Most of the paper I use is 200gsm weight or above which means it will easily fold and also stay 3D. I also use some wrapping or origami papers.
