The Japanese mokume gane technique was traditionally used to decorate the hilts of Samurai swords. It lends itself beautifully to the modern material of polymer clay, and I love creating pieces that incorporate this. The frame for this kite shaped pendant is made from sterling silver sheet, and infilled with charcoal resin and neutral toned clay, both of which are pearlescent.It has been sanded and buffed through 12 stages of abrasion and polish, to leave it with a satin finish, and stone like appearance.
The pendant itself measures 45mm long and 18mm wide, and hangs from a 20″ sterling silver trace chain
