Handcrafted Recycled Fine Silver and White Sea Glass Hazel Leaf Pendant Necklace

£75.00

A perfect and unique handcrafted necklace for nature lovers featuring a small, solid fine silver Hampshire Hazel leaf paired with a little white sea glass nugget from Seaham wrapped in fine silver wire.  This eco-friendly pendant was created using silver clay paste and a real Hazel leaf from the Hedgerows in a village near where I live in the Hampshire South Downs, which was painstakingly layer painted over the course of a day or two and then torch fired once dry,  to create a solid yet lightweight and delicate fine silver replica of the original leaf, which was burned away during the firing process.  So this is the only necklace made from this leaf.   the fired leaf was hand painted with Liver of Sulpher to create an aged effect on the veins of the leaf, highlighting the intricate detail.  The white sea glass I chose for this piece was collected by me from the beach at Seaham in the North East of England, where I have family.

Dimensions: Leaf measures approx. 2cm in length x 1.5cm at its widest point; Sea glass measures 0.8 x 0.6cm (approx.); Total length of sterling silver chain including clasp measures 45cm/18 inches (clasp is a standard bolt ring style fastening)

The necklace will arrive wrapped in pale green tissue paper fastened with linen thread, in a Hugged by Nature kraft box with a recycled insert.  A little handwritten note explaining a bit about the piece is also popped in the box, which is then tied with thread and a gift tag added.

POSTAGE INCLUDED: The package will be shipped in 1-3 days and sent by Royal Mail Tracked 24.

See Description tab for more details and information.

A small and perfectly formed young hazel leaf transformed into solid silver – created using silver clay paste.

This particular young leaf came from a Hazel tree in the hedgerows of a village near where I live, in the South Downs in Hampshire, gathered whilst I was out on a walk with some friends. I love Hazel, with its very easily identified long yellow catkins (known as lambs tails) in the spring, and its delicious nuts in the Autumn, loved by me and squirrels alike!  It’s also key habitat for our native Dormice. Its leaves, before they get too big, are well suited to silver leaf making, due to their very defined texture.

I have paired it with a white piece of sea glass (found by me in Seaham, Co Durham), which I’ve wrapped it in fine silver wire.  The leaf and sea glass are hung from a sterling silver chain.

Dimensions

Leaf measures approx. 2cm in length x 1.5cm at its widest point.

Sea glass measures 0.8 x 0.6cm (approx).

Total length of sterling silver chain including clasp measures 45cm/18 inches.

The silver leaves I use for my designs are made in very small batches, often to order, so there is minimal impact on the plant or other wild users of the plant! Which also means, of course, that the finished piece is truly one of a kind – just like each individual leaf in nature.

All my items will arrive wrapped in pale green recycled tissue paper fastened with linen thread, and in a recycled kraft pillow-box.  A little handwritten note explaining a bit about the piece is also included. Additional gift wrap options are available.

The pillow box is sent in a recycled cardboard box filled with eco-friendly, responsibly sourced UK wood wool.

The package will be shipped in 1-3 days and sent by Royal Mail Tracked 24 which is included.  Other delivery methods are available on request.

COMMISSIONS:  You may also like to know that I love taking special requests and commissions – perhaps to celebrate a special birthday or event, or maybe just to turn a favourite ‘something’ you have collected into a piece of jewellery you can wear.   So if you’d like to talk about creating something truly unique and bespoke for you or someone in your life please do get in touch, I’d love to help. Previous commissions have included turning a customer’s own sea-glass into a necklace, handcrafting a Bramble flower for a 21st birthday, recreating a dangly Catkin for a favourite sister or some coffee bean earrings for a Barista.   It’s also worth knowing that commissions don’t necessarily cost more than items in the shop – it depends what you have in mind – so it’s always worth a no-strings chat.

Returns and Refunds

All of my pieces are handmade with a lot of love and I take great pride in everything I make, and in seeing a smile on your face! I am a strong believer in hand-made meaning quality and also that because each piece is individually made by hand there sometimes may be irregularities on the surface reflecting the organic nature of the materials I work with , which creates truly one of a kind pieces.

I also know that occasionally things might go awry, and if you find that you have a problem with your item please contact me straight away so we can discuss how best to resolve the situation.
