This one is such fun to make! First the red glass powder is laid down, wetted and manipulated to create the “crackle”. It is then capped with a circle of clear glass and fired to open up the cracks and fuse the powder on. Once cooled the “cracks are cleaned out with a metal tooth pick and grouted with a transparent spring green powder and then fired again. The dish is then cold worked to tidy up the organic edge and sand blasted to clean the surface. It then visits the kiln for a third time to shape using a ceramic former to create the bowl shape.
