Our Harriet Hare Sculpture would certainly create a unique focal point in any room or garden. She is a figurative representation of the much loved brown hare, which is native to the British countryside as well as being an ancient Pagan symbol. Harriet reflects the ancient connection between the Hare and the Moon and represents new beginnings and good fortune, fertility, growth, rebirth and abundance, making her an ideal hand fasting, wedding or anniversary gift.
The original Harriet was hand sculpted in wax using traditional sculpting methods by Kirsty Armstrong who has been a sculptor for more than 30 years. Harriet is anatomically correct with Kirsty’s unique stylised fur detail applied over the top. She is being produced in small batches to order, as a limited edition of 150*pieces (*as of November 2024 there are only 3 pieces remaining from the entire edition). They are available to order in a choice of finishes (please see other listings).
’Rusty’ Harriet, in cold-cast iron (metal and resin) has highlights in ‘foundry bronze’ and ‘gold’ metallic waxes. All versions of Harriet have enamelled eyes. (Please note that if this version is lacquered for outside use then the finish is darker).
Kirsty uses a moulding and casting company just 30 miles from her studio to produce Harriet, and then she begins the process of bringing her to life. Kirsty polishes, finishes and packs each piece herself by hand…
Harriet’s vital statistics…
Harriet is 16” (40cm) to her tallest ear, making her almost life size.
She weighs approximately 6kg, and her packed parcel weight is a hefty 8kg
All variations are suitable for both inside and out, however, for her to go outside she must be sealed and so will require a coat of lacquer to protect the finish from the weather. Please just tick the option box.
In this listing only ‘rusty’ Harriet is available. Please see other listings in my shop for the different finishes.
From each Harriet sold Kirsty donates a percentage to the Hare Preservation Trust which helps protect Hares and to educate the public.
Delivery…
Harriet is large, heavy and expensive to insure and this is reflected in her delivery charges. Currently the UK shipping price is £33. The prices shown are what it costs us in packaging materials and the shipping costs. She is shipped in her own purpose built rigid packaging via Parcelforce for UK deliveries which usually takes *1-3 working days after dispatch. International deliveries are sent via UPS which is a 2-3 day insured service. If your shipping destination is not shown then please just send me an enquiry.
