Large black and white earrings, statement earrings in polymer clay with Sterling silver posts

I designed these large black and white earrings for all the ladies who wear black even in summer (like me!), because a monochrome patterned earring gives such a lift to a black dress or top. However, they also look great with white and grey clothing, adding a little understated glamour.

They’re made and decorated completely by hand, so the pattern has a little bit of rustic human charm! I think they have a bit of a tribal feel, yet they’re also very smart with their black stud post fitting.

I connect my polymer clay components with handmade Sterling silver wire findings that are embedded into the clay, rather than unsoldered jump rings that can open up and allow half your earring to go AWOL. I’ve oxidised the silver to a very dark grey for these earrings, as I felt that bright silver would draw the eye and detract from the overall impact of the earrings.

They are super-light to wear, so even though they’re sizeable, at 5.5cm from the top of the stud fitting to the bottom of the drop, you’ll barely know you’re wearing them! Complete with Sterling silver posts and scroll backs.
