Glass Fusing Workshop
£60.00
Have you every wanted to have a go at Glass Fusing? These workshops are for all abilities to explore fusing glass and let your creative imagination flow. Spend a relaxing day cutting, layering and designing your own fused glass creations in my garden studio in Epsom, Surrey. It can take years to master all the processes available to a fused glass artist but often the best results follow the least planning so why not start exploring what is possible!
The many glass fusing methods involve stacking or layering sheets, rods, and pieces of glass, often using different colours to create patterns or images. The stack is then placed inside the kiln and fired. The separate pieces bond together, this is the fusing process. These taster sessions are the start of your fused glass journey.
The two fusing processes that you will have time for in a one or half day workshop are either a Tack fuse or a Full fuse, each one possible on a separate piece. Finished pieces that you may have seen elsewhere and wish to emulate could have involved multiple firings in the kiln, with elements being added between each firing. Something that is not possible within the limits of a one or half day workshop. Please bear this in mind when deciding what you want to create.
We can discuss what you would like to make, and I can give guidance on how this can be achieved. All glass materials are included, and you have a whole shelf to create your own pieces of art, jewellery or tile, and you are free to use the wide selection of glass supplies on hand to create whatever you wish. I will then fire them in the kiln once finished, and you can collect when they are ready or I will send your creations to you at cost.
Your visit starts with a welcoming tea, coffee or soft drink followed by an introduction to glass and cutting safely. For those on the full day workshop a light lunch is also included, please let me know any dietary requirements. All tools and safety glasses will be provided, please wear comfortable clothes and suitable footwear (closed shoes, no sandals).
The workshops routinely run on Tuesdays and Fridays, but a Saturday could be arranged. Once you have purchased either the half or full day I will contact you to confirm a date when you would like to attend the workshop. The studio can accommodate a maximum of two people so why not treat yourself, a family member or friend, or make a booking for two people.
Please note that bookings are also taken in person.
