William Morris Seaweed Decoupage Gilded Oyster Shell Trinket/Jewellery Dish

Beautiful gilded and decoupaged oyster and clam shell featuring William Morris (1894 – 1896) ‘Seaweed’ design.

The vintage Seaweed design (c. 1890) is inspired by the movement of plants underwater and the sinuous curves associated with the Art Nouveau movement. The design features vibrant greens and blues and remains popular to this day.

The decoupaged shells can be purchased as a set, with one oyster shell and one small clam shell or the oyster shell individually. The oyster shell measures 9cm approx in length and the clam shell is approximately 4.5 cm in length.

These beautiful handcrafted and repurposed shells are suitable for keeping trinkets, jewellery, rings, cuff links or any small treasures safe or just used as a standalone piece for a decorative accent.

Striking, beautiful and unique, the shells are a charming gift for others, or treat yourself!

Every shell trinket dish is handmade. Shells are checked and cleaned and the design painstakingly applied.The edge and reverse of the shell are gilded in a rich shade of gold paint. Finally many layers of lacquer has been added to the design. This gives the shell a glass like depth and sheen, giving the impression of porcelain.

The trinket dish arrives packaged in a Kraft gift box lined with tissue paper, using Royal Mail second class delivery. Packaging is reusable or can be recycled.

Please note, each shell is slightly different in colour and shape, designs are placed in accordance to this, making every trinket dish unique!

To care for your trinket dish it is recommended to dust gently with a soft cloth, do not immerse in liquid or place in areas of damp or humidity. The scallop shell dishes are intended for trinkets or as ornaments, it is not recommended to use for any sort of wax ie candles, wax melts etc. Take care when placing on polished furniture.

Standard shipping is £3.99 for mainland UK using Royal Mail Second Class signed or Evri standard delivery. First Class Royal Mail signed for is £6.99. A tracking number will be provided. However, if you would prefer faster shipping, live off the UK mainland, or would like to request another courier service, please contact us for a delivery quote.
Delivery to Europe zones 1 and 2 is £12.99 using Royal Mail second class or Evri standard. Please note that in some European countries your parcel may be dropped off at a local parcel shop depending on the courier policy.
Delivery to USA is priced at £24.99 using Royal Mail or Evri standard. If you would like to upgrade postage or use a different courier, please send a message for a quote.

Refund Policy

If an item arrives damaged a full refund will be given. Please contact us with details and photos of the damaged purchase within 1 week UK and 2 weeks Europe and rest of the world. If an item does not arrive please contact us and we can contact the courier. Please provide any evidence that may help us to track your missing purchase. A refund or replacement will then be offered. Please be aware that in certain countries such as Denmark items may be delivered to your nearest parcel shop. Hygge and Hearth are not responsible for any additional taxes applied to your purchase for items delivered outside of the UK.
Unfortunately we do not accept cancellations or returns, unless an item is damaged. However, in the unlikely event, that you are not happy with your purchase, please contact us via email.
