Blue Serving Dish

This gorgeous plate / serving dish was made by me on the potters wheel.

Being thrown on the potters wheel from a good stoneware clay and has all the quirks of studio pottery.

It measures 21.5 cm across and 4.5 cm tall.

It’s an ideal multifunctional bowl – use it for serving up meals, a green leaf salad or a fruit salad, or use it as a fruit bowl, a place to keep your keys and wallet or for standing a plant in it.

Description

This is such a joyous piece of pottery with it’s lovely blues.

I threw it on the potters wheel. I then let the clay harden before turning the base to tidy it up.

Once the clay has dried out completely, which can take a week or so it is bisque fired in the kiln up to 1000C . It is then glazed. Here I used a combination of two beautiful blues. It is then fired again to 1240C; that’s hot!

The bowl measures 21.5 cm across the rim and stands 4.5 cm tall.

I sign all my pieces with my initials, REJM. To me each one deserves to be acknowledged as individual.

The handmade nature of studio pottery, the unpredictability of the glaze reactions in the kiln makes all pieces unique.

I would hate my ceramics to get broken in transit so I make sure that all my parcels are very well packaged. I use a combination or recycled materials and reused packaging. Your items will come gift wrapped.

If you could quote a ‘safe place’ on your order for the courier to leave the parcel that would be great.
