Many small businesses have been doing alternatives this year including things like planting trees, giving staff the day off (Hunt The Moon – love this idea!) and donating to charity (The British Craft House) instead of offering big deals.
There is also a growing movement called Colour Friday started by Not On The Highstreet founder Holly Tucker encouraging shoppers to buy from small businesses at Christmas.
So with all this is mind I have decided to donate to two local Taunton charities instead of offering any deals. This year I am going to support:
“Arc house, support and enable homeless people to maximise their potential. Working in Taunton, West Somerset and Sedgemoor. We strive for all homeless people to have a safe and supportive environment, where people can be inspired and empowered by their own strengths.”
I am sponsoring a festive hamper.
“The Christmas Sparkle Project is run by the community for the community. We work with local charities who support families in need. Our aim is to give a Christmas gift to every child aged 0-18 years living in difficult circumstances in the Taunton and Wellington community. We want to make every child’s Christmas Sparkle.”
I am donating a hamper of toys and gifts.
However…
I will be having my annual Christmas sale over on Facebook on 19th December where you can definitely grab a bargain on last minute Christmas Gifts.
I also have a few bargains available in my SALE section on The British Craft House.
I’ll update this blog post in December when the donation hampers have been dropped off.
