So, you’ve ordered your Jolie Fleur wreath and you eagerly await delivery. What next?
I want my precious wreath to arrive at their new home looking as beautiful as when they left my workbench so I always carefully secure my wreaths into their transit box with pipe-cleaners so they don’t move too much on their journey to you. They lay on a bed of bubble wrap and are topped off with bubble wrap and pretty tissue paper so they are a pleasure to unwrap.
When you first unwrap your new wreath, snip or unravel the pipe-cleaners to release it. Then give the wreath a gentle fluffing with your fingertips, just to make sure it has not got flattened on its journey. After all, you want it to look its best and get you great kerb appeal.
Are you going to hang your wreath outside? Have a little think about your door and the elements. Wreaths are surprisingly hardy but you want to keep your beauty for a long while so here are a couple of tips. Shelter your wreath from the worst of the elements – extreme temperatures and moisture can shorten the life of your wreath, so if the weather is particularly horrible and you can’t shelter it, just pop it indoors overnight. For example, berries can ‘pop’ in extreme cold or blazing direct sunshine can fade flowers over time. You might wish to spray your wreath with a UV protector.
Which hanger will you choose? There are many hangers on the market, but think about your door first. If you have a UPVC door, then avoid an over the door metal hanger as these can ruin the seal on your door. Personally, I like stick on hangers, they take a good amount of weight without worry.
To clean your wreath at the end of a season, simply use a hairdryer on a cool setting to dislodge dust or debris…or the odd cobweb! Then pop your wreath back in its original carrying box and store until next year.
Having a luxury faux floral wreath should bring you joy, the happy flowers welcoming you home and welcoming your guests too. Whether you have the wreath indoors or out, it should be a reflection of your personality and it should make you happy every time you see it.
