This is a print from a Gerards Herbal book dating from the 1600’s – I have hand coloured the herbs with watercolours, using muted colours to give that aged look. This is on watercolour Giclee paper 240gsm which as a lovely linen texture adding to those olden days look.
this is an Aquilegia – common name Grandmas Bonnet – this small red variety was used in herbal remedies
