I thought that as I am new on TBCH I would take this opportunity to introduce myself!
I’m Gill and I’m a sustainable silver jeweller who is lucky enough to live in a beautiful little village in West Cornwall with my partner Rich, our rescue dog Jess, and our rescue chickens aka The Ginger Ninjas! We moved here 2½ years ago as part of a long held dream and plan, and I have never felt that I belonged anywhere more.
I started creating silver jewellery after going along to a one day workshop to learn to use silverclay. Since then I have taught myself so much more!
I create simple, timeless jewellery and gifts which has our world at its heart. It celebrates natures perfect design and is inspired by wild Cornwall, especially the coast!
I love running and the Cornish coast is my favourite place. I also like to swim in the sea in warmer months, and dip in the sea (no wetsuit!) during the colder ones! When the sea is calm I like giving paddle boarding a go, and when the waves come, I get on my body board and just have fun!
I’m inspired by my surroundings, particularly the coast, and I love natural organic textures and shapes. I also like turquoise blues and greens – a lot! I like unique loveliness and stories, which I hope you can see in my making.
Seeing the impact of my behaviour on the environment around me when I’m out there enjoying this beautiful world, makes me want to change some of the things I do to make my part in that smaller. And this runs right through SilverHare Jewellery too – from the materials I use, such as recycled silver, and reusable, compostable and recyclable packaging, to the processes in my making.
I would love to share my journey with you, so if you’d like to find out more, please sign up here to receive news on my latest creations, as well as my journey to becoming more people and planet friendly and markets where you can find me. You will probably hear about Jess and our The Ginger Ninjas too, and we share a good read every month in Jess’s Book Corner!
