It’s Jackanory time – who’d like to hear the story of the bespoke, personalised, green teapot, wedding place card?

Are you sitting comfortably?  Then, I’ll begin…..

So, a few weeks ago, I was looking through the team facebook posts for British Craft House sellers.

A fellow maker had an enquiry from a customer for something she didn’t make and wondered if any other team member/maker could help.

I shared my shop link and my bespoke order journey with Mr and Mrs Smith began!

They were looking for personalised place cards for their wedding reception, with a very specific green and cream teapot theme using an Art Deco font for personalisation.  The couple were keen to use recycled card, which is right up my street!

I’d never made anything like this before, but that sort of thing wasn’t going to stop me!

Who’d like to see what we created together?!…..

We started with a gift tag style, quickly moving onto a stand up card:

I posted a few samples out for them to see and sent photos of the green card options I had in my arsenal!  The customer ended up going with a simple plain apple green teapot on cream card.

Final samples were agreed along with the Guest List for the personalised names.  I checked and double checked to make sure Diane was spelt with one “n” and not two!

I excitedly posted the teapot place cards, along with the last minute addition of a plain set of name cards for the church.  We managed it all within 10 days, in plenty of time for the wedding!

Continuing my recycle/upcycle/minimum waste ethos, I used the offcuts of green and cream card to make table confetti as my own little gift for the customer.  Here’s a lovely photo of the teapot placards and confetti enjoying the wedding day!  How cool of the groom to take a moment out of his day to send me a photo!

I was contacted by the customer this week to say that all the guests took their personalised place cards home as a wedding momento, which is lovely.

He reminded me that we’ve got the thank you cards to work on when they’re back from their honeymoon!

When I asked permission to share our process on a blog the reply was “Yes, you can – you’re a brilliant designer”.  Wow, what lovely words.  I don’t normally blow my own trumpet, but I’m very, very chuffed!

This bespoke journey is all thanks our fabulous network at team TBCH and the trust the customer had in my work!

Finally, a special thank you to Julie from Dew Drop Cards for putting me in touch with the customer in the first place.

Txx
