So Why Do Brides Choose Paper Flower Bouquets?

Paper Wedding Bouquet

I’ve been creating paper flower origami bouquets now for around 6 years and
most especially for weddings.  So why are they still a popular choice for
brides and Grooms? Here’s a few of the main reasons:

1) Well the most obvious thing is that first and foremost they’re a long
lasting keepsake from the special day and when most fresh flower bouquets are
left wilting and dying in a vase just a week after the big day my bouquets are
looking as fresh as a daisy still, in fact for years to come –  I’ve even
had brides contact me 5 years later with photos of their bridal bouquets still
in vases adorning their homes.  I can also create paper flowers in vases
for the table decorations and centrepieces which guests can take away with
them as wedding keepsakes.

2) Another factor is the design process – there are pretty much no
limitations with colours or designs when it comes to paper and I’m often asked
to incorporate pages from favourite books or flowers made from the music
sheets especially of the couple’s first dance or ‘their’ song. I’ve also been
asked to include comic book pages or maps. It means I can completely
personalise the flowers and tailor to the bride and groom’s hobbies, favourite places or
sentimental things.

3) Planning a wedding is often a stressful experience with making sure
everything runs to plan and on time.  Flowers are one of the main elements
of a wedding and so ordering paper flower bouquets and buttonholes to be
delivered well ahead of the big day means no last-minute panics or unwanted surprises
on the day! It’s another main part of the wedding which can be ticked off the
to-do-list early on so you can concentrate on other things.

4) Allergies and Phobias.  The last thing a bride or groom wants to be
worrying about is sneezing their way through the ceremony with itchy eyes and
runny nose! None of those problems with paper flowers. I’ve even been asked
to make paper wedding bouquet and groom’s buttonhole from paper because the
bride or groom have a bee phobia – fortunately bees are not attracted at all by
paper flowers, no matter how pretty and realistic they are.

5) Paper origami flowers are very robust! Yes, who knew paper could be so
strong?! It’s something about the way each flower petal is folded with
traditional origami folding methods which forms double layers of paper that
makes them so very strong. This makes them the perfect choice for elopement,
destination or beach weddings, because they’re so robust and travel really
well.  I’ve even had brides order an extra bouquet as their ‘throw bouquet’
because they’re robust enough to be hurled through the air and land on the
floor without much damage if the next bride in line is not lucky enough to
catch it in mid-air! Now and again I’ve accidentally dropped bouquets or
knocked them off tables and they’ve landed pretty side down (isn’t that always
the way!) and a few of the flowers have slightly bent corners which have been
quickly straightened out and look as good as new again.

6) And finally why paper origami flowers? Well they’re very unusual and a
huge talking point! So if couples are looking for something out of the ordinary
and something to create quite and impact and a memorable element to their
wedding then paper origami flowers are a great choice!

7) Off the Peg and affordable wedding sets. I’ve recently made the decision
to make my unique and bespoke flower designs for the bride and groom only, so
limiting just to the bridal bouquet and groom’s buttonhole, rather than supply
large numbers of bouquets and buttonholes for big parties of bridesmaids and
groomsmen – I feel the bridal bouquet and groom’s buttonhole should be
completely unique and individual, different to the rest of the wedding party, a
one-of-a-kind set that’s never repeated or available to anyone else, so when
you order from me you will know that no one else in the world will have the
same flowers as you!  With this in mind I’ve recently started completing
some off the peg bridal bouquet and groom’s buttonhole sets which are ready to
post, but I’m also happy to discuss creating bespoke bouquets and buttonholes
too and I’m also happy to discuss supplying handmade origami paper flowers to
pop into vases for wedding tables and centrepieces.

I hope I’ve sparked an interest for you to consider paper flowers for your
wedding and answered some questions you may have with this blog. Please feel
free to pop me a message if you’d like to discuss your own ideas and designs
with me so we can create something beautiful and individually tailored to you.
