The Upcycled Shop

Hello and welcome to The Upcycled Shop, full of upcycled decoupaged bottles and jars!

The initial creative spark for the launch of The Upcycled Shop came from my love of making crafts and caring for the environment.

People have been putting a major strain on the environment and we can all make small changes to help our world. Every year in the UK 1.6 million tonnes of furniture and bulky waste is thrown out, most of which is buried in landfill and more than 28 billion glass bottles and jars end up in landfill every year.

This shows that there is enough items already available that can be reused and updated into something new and there is so much more that needs to be done.

I launched the Upcycled Shop to show that it is possible to update your home without having to continuously purchase brand new items and exploit resources. Highlighting that you don’t need to keep buying new items from big brands and that old is now the new ’new’.

I upcycle jars and bottles of all different shapes and sizes that would normally be thrown away and turn them into something new and unique for people’s homes. Predominantly using the crafting technique decoupage, which involves decorating items through using paper cutouts and glueing them onto the surface.

Every item on my shop has been given four to five coats of paint. My designs are slightly different to most decoupage crafts, as I use different napkins on each item in order to create a picture and due to the nature of upcycling every item is unique.
