Obsidian Butterfly

I learnt silversmithing at night school, while working as a cutlery department manager. I went to night school for five years to expand my knowledge, and I’m still teaching myself techniques. Being an ex-retail manager of a cutlery department has helped me understand metal properties when using cutlery and other items in my upcycled pieces, meaning I can explore more exciting options.

I’m based in Leicester in my living room workshop, with my staffy, Molly. I love to create unusual, one off pieces, inspired by animals and nature. I also like to use unusual gemstones, that tell stories in their creation. Our world is an amazing place, and we should celebrate it. I’m lucky that I have nature reserves in my area, and I can often be found walking Molly and taking lots of photographs to inspire my designs.

I also teach silversmithing with my sister of Calla Crafts in various places around the midlands. I teach adults and children, and hope to inspire the next generation of silversmiths.
