Nichola Foster Designs

Hi and welcome to my shop! I create each and every lampwork glass bead and fused glass piece in my designs, in the little workshop at the back of my garden in Yorkshire.

(Too) many years ago I discovered my love of glass when I came across an artisan lampwork glass bead bracelet. I’d never even heard of lampwork – I NEEDED to know more about it! The colours, the quality, the feel, the shine, it totally drew me in – I was totally enthralled by these tiny glass balls of art, and that was where my business was unwittingly born! I started sourcing my own beads to make myself jewellery and ended up making jewellery for friends and family at their request whilst learning the essentials of jewellery making. It was a true joy to create something wearable so that these beautiful pieces of art glass could be seen and admired! When I felt I’d perfected the basics I started small, selling at jewellery parties and locally, until I had a lovely base of customers who helped to spur me on! So where am I at today? In between then and now quite a lot has happened! I now make my own lampwork glass beads and also play with fused glass, supplying a gift shop and some art galleries. This didn’t even figure in my consciousness at the beginning of this journey it was so far beyond my dreams! I’d taken a lampworking course several years ago as well as receiving some glass fusing tuition from a nice glassworker friend. I can’t even put into words how fantastic it is to have a design idea and be able to make it a reality from literally start to finish. I’m now married and have 2 children and a dog – it gets pretty chaotic in my house some days! But I’ve got my little glassy workshop to go to so it’s all good!

Please feel free to contact me if you have a specific idea for a custom made piece of jewellery and I will do my best to meet your requirements.  Most recently I have begun to take commissions for beads and jewellery containing ashes, you can find photographs of my previous pieces in my Memorials album on my Facebook Page.
