Nape Textiles

Hi, my name is Kay Muir and welcome to my shop. Nape Textiles is a luxury label that specialized in bespoke textile design. I created the brand because of my love of illustration and wish to craft locally produced Scottish textiles.

The design process: Each design starts as an illustration than is then painted by hand, sometimes directly onto silk fabric or alternatively the illustration is coloured using a variety of media. More recently illustrations have been created directly onto my iPad which allows digital manipulation. After a little digital jiggery-pokery, the artwork is printed onto luxurious fabric such as silk, velvet or wool twill fabric. My scarves can be beautifully packaged in a gift box on request. 

Products range from silk and wool scarves to art prints and also floral canvas deckchairs. Upholstery commissions are a new addition and I would be excited to work with you to create a bespoke fabric. I am happy to work alongside you to create wearable art and recently I have been creating fabrics for interiors. Commissions are encouraged.

The ethos of the brand is to design and manufacture locally and to carry limited products. If a piece is out-of-stock it can be made-to-order and may take up to 4 weeks from order to delivery. Both printing and hand or machine finishing is carried out in Glasgow. Upholstery fabric is printed in the UK.
