Inspired Textiles

Hi I’m Margaret and welcome to Inspired Textiles the home of practical and aesthetically pleasing goods. As a textile artist I have a lifelong love of all things natural and tactile. I garden, sew and create. I have been an exhibiting textile artist for a number of years now but more recently I have found a serendipitous technique that allows me to combine all my passions. Botanical printing and dyeing is an art form that utilises the alchemy of tannins and chemicals in plants. When coaxed by heat they give up wonderful prints and colours. The natural colours and prints that are a result of botanical printing and dyeing harmonise in a way that only nature knows how to and I use this to good effect in my hand and machine embroidery embellishments. The naturally dyed threads I use are a dream to use as I slow stitch my goods to make them truly unique and ideal for those special gifts or a treat for oneself.

I now spend my time creating unique fabrics, papers and threads that I use in the making of items that I bring to you in my shop. I give each item a full provenance as to botanicals used and method employed so they become a talking point.
