Description
This lovely little hair clip was handmade in my Herefordshire workshop and features a four strand woven section in the centre and then further woven sections top and bottom. Semi-circular end sections, all hand textured with a crosshatch pattern, finish off the clip beautifully.
The metal clip on the back is a high quality, strong French made barrette and this is rivetted (not glued) onto the sterling silver front plate, ensuring it is extremely secure.
The clip is 4cm/1.6 inches (approx) in length and the silver woven section is approximately 50mm/2 inches long and approximately 1.4cm/0.5 inches wide. The silver front plate gently curves following the shape of the clip.
Hallmarked by the Edinburgh Assay Office – your assurance of the quality and authenticity of the materials used.
Beautifully presented in a lovely, ribbon-tied gift box and chiffon bag, with a “Caring for your Jewellery” card.
All about Hallmarking
In the UK it is illegal to sell or describe any item as silver if it is not hallmarked by one of the UK Assay Offices. Silver items are only exempt from hallmarking if they weigh under 7.8g. A hallmark is made up of three compulsory symbols:-
1. The Sponsor’s or Maker’s Mark.
2. Metal and fineness (purity) Mark – 925 for sterling silver and 999 for fine silver.
3. Assay Office Mark – mine have the castle, which is the mark for the Edinburgh Assay Office.
