Description
A sweet sleeping dormouse hand needlefelted in soft merino wool. The dormouse lies on a bed of leaves and fluff in a nest strewn with acorns. The dormouse is about 6cm long and sits on a base around 11 cm across.
Needlefelting is the process of felting wool using a special barbed needle. As the needle is plunged into the wool, the barbs catch the wool fibres, pulling them into the centre of the piece, and matting or felting the fibres. This technique can be used to create 3D sculptures and can also be used to create 2D wool ‘paintings’.
