Wooden garden sculpture with stained glass

ChickenPink’s garden art sculpture has been handcrafted from locally-sourced, seasoned and spalted sycamore, beatuiful ash with a really pretty grain and a few sought-after pieces of cherry wood.

The wood has been inlayed with a rainbow of reclaimed vintage, hand cut, stained glass which catch the light beautifully.

It looks amazing on its own but would make a stunning addition to any garden, yard, patio or outside space. Makes a lovely handcrafted garden or home feature which looks great both during the day with the sun shining through the glass and at night with a solar light behind it.

Description

Share

The wood has been treated with a weather-proof varnish, sanded and smothed between coats, bringing out the natural grain and ‘spalting’ (the dark lines) in the sycamore.

The sculpture comes complete with two 30cm (12inch) iron spikes that are securely slotted into the base of the piece. This allows it to allows it to be staked into the ground (see images).

Dimensions: Height 74cm x Width 15cm (at widest point) x Thickness 3cm + 30cm steel spikes.

Handmade in the UK by ChickenPink using sycamore cut from a Devon bank (with the farmer’s consent!). The wood has been seasoned for more than three years so there should be no warping. The glass is reclaimed and upcycled from vairous local sources including an refurbished hotel.

Our garden sculptures can be personalised and made to order. Please get in touch for options including wood, glass colour or personalised message.

The images are taken using natural light. Please bear in mind that monitors may not display the colours accurately and each piece is unique.

I ordered a wooden garden ornament just after the blackbirds finished nesting! It arrived this week and I could not be more pleased. The whole process, from initial consultation, assistance with choosing the wood, which glass colours and what quote, through to it’s arrival, was just lovely. Communication from the sellers was very good. Thoroughly recommended.

I bloody love this! It looks amazing, I got to choose the wood and suggest the layout of the circles. Great communication from Rupert and Clare. And arrived safely and looks fantastic in the garden. So pleased I bought it.

I am thinking about ordering two structures but one personal with FMB in corner and one with "remembering Bryan" in corner. If these could be engraved discretely in wood surround that would be great.

    Hi Michelle

Thank you for getting in touch. Yes, we can do this!

We have quite a selection of wood to choose from - here is the link to the pictures of the wood: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CrXPG6ZRu7AWoW2XA. This wood is in its 'raw' state - here is a gallery of how it develops: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ewHgLAnYVjcPGTfx8

I have priced (and described) the first six or seven pieces - I'm in the process of working on the rest of them - but let me know if any of them are what you are looking for and I can give you dimensions and prices. With the stained glass, you can choose your colour palette (it's all recycled and reclaimed so we can't be 100% accurate!), or we can do this for you depending on what we think will work best with the wood.

The personalisation options...we can add text to the face of the wood or to the side panel (have a look at the attached picture). This is not engraved but 'printed' onto the wood, so we can change the colours and the fonts, etc. We generally colour-match the text to the grain of the wood, but this is not necessary!

I hope this is enough information for you to go on. Each piece takes up to two weeks to make (depending on what else we have in the workshop - we're quite busy at the moment!). Let me know if you need amything else :)

    Kind regards

Do you have a waiting list / are able to let me know when you have more to sell? Could I choose which coloured glass to include? Thanks

    Hi Mandy

Thank you for getting in touch :)

We have a slight supply issue at the moment - all down to nesting birds in the woodpile.

However, we do have a few pieces available. You can have a look at the pieces we have here. These are very much 'in the rough' (before any work has been done with them), and I seem to have applied a 'dark' setting to the camera before I took most of them (technology/fat finger interface problem). I've put comments on each of the photos (you may have to click the icon in the bottom right of the photo) to tell you a bit about the piece and the price.

I've also put together a gallery of us making the scupltures to help you visualise how the 'rough' pieces develop into the finished piece. You'll also get to meet Clare (the artist) and Juno, concerned about the chickens.

Please let me know if you have any more questions - I keep meaning to add these details to the listing. I thought lockdown was meant to be about kicking back with a book or learning how to play the zither, but we're too busy for that!

    Kind regards

    Rupert
