Drop spindle spinning gives you the skills you need to learn to spin and are a portable, fun way of spinning. It is also a very relaxing mindful hobby. Even if you can’t knit you can consider using a small loom or other uses for your wool. 

This kit includes everything you need to get started:

Approximately min 50g of British rare breed wool blended with soft Merino. The Whiteface Dartmoor & Greyface Dartmoor spinning fibre is hand processed completely by myself from shearing on the farm to kit. It is skirted and picked through, soaked and then washed thoroughly before drying in the sun. The next step is to dye the fibres, some with natural dyes and then carded by hand.

Also included in your kit is a lustrous bunch of mixed curls from the Whiteface Dartmoor & Greyface Dartmoor sheep and also Teeswaters.

A hand made wooden spindle with top whorl (the round heavy bit!).

Full colour instructions to walk you through the basics and get you going.  Just to say…it’s very addictive!

Shipping Policy

My Shipping Policy

Shipping is currently set for the UK only and I will do my best to post out the same or next day. With the exception of jewellery (*please see below), items will be sent via Royal Mail parcel post and packed securely in a gift box which is recyclable and biodegradable and then this will be further protected with re-purposed packaging. The environment is important to me and I will always try and recycle/ re-use outer packaging so whilst your parcel may not be brand new, your item will be wrapped beautifully and safely nestled inside. If you have any requests or concerns regarding this please do contact me. *Jewellery will be gift wrapped in paper and protected in a Jiffy bag or similar.

This rare breed spinning starter kit contains everything you need to get started. Hand blended wool fibres, a handmade wooden drop spindle and full colour instructions. Also includes some lustrous locks to add in if you choose. 

Fleece used from rare breeds Whiteface Dartmoor & Greyface Dartmoor are hand processed by myself and then dyed and blended with soft Merino and sparkly threads. A relaxing mindful hobby suitable for anyone to learn including older children.

Approx 60g fibres.
