Description
An 9.5 cm square dish which I fused in my kiln. Three times, once to fuse all the glass together into a flat square, second to tack fuse the dichroic decoration and then again, to slump it into the shallow dish shape.
I made this with 2 layers of beautiful peacock blue and turquoise glass. The glass in the centre is iridescent and has a gorgeous rainbow shimmer accentuated by the dichroic glass in the middle and the raised dichroic border round the edge.
It really is a stunning little piece with an incredible shimmer.
A very pretty little ornamental dish, richly decorated and very tactile especially with the raised border of dichroic glass.
Dichroic (pronounced “dye-crow-ick”) glass, literally means “two colored.” It is derived from the Greek words “di” for two, and “chroma” for color. It was thus named because of its fantastic multicolour reflective properties. It appears to have more than one color at the same time, especially when viewed with different lighting.
A lovely dish for your trinkets, sweets or just to enjoy as an ornament.
I find my fused glass pieces very tactile and this dish is lovely to just hold and I rather like to think it might be picked up just to admire the shimmer and the colours.
