Description
These patriotically coloured Jubilee suncatchers are square but hang from the corner from two strongly attached little wire rings.
The butterfly and dragonfly are both formed from brightest red, white and blue glass with a shimmering dichroic glass nugget, fused in my kiln, for a head. I’ve then added a surround of iridescent prettily textured clear glass and an outer thin border of bright red glass with blue corners.
To neaten and strenghten the suncatcher I’ve framed the outer edge with twisted wire. This makes the suncatcher lovely and solid and I would be happy to say that it is ok to hang outside as long as protected from bad weather and wind.
They look absolutely stunning hanging in the window catching and refracting their vibrant colours in the light. They also look pretty fine hanging as a picture on the wall.
Like all my suncatchers, these are entirely handcrafted with love and designed to hang in the window and catch the light.
Very special suncatchers to brighten your room and your life.
Each piece of glass is individually cut, shaped then carefully wrapped in copper foil before all the pieces are soldered together to create the suncatcher. Once the pieces are all soldered together I add the ‘frame’ of twisted wire. This gives the suncatcher neatness and also strength. I then add little wire rings for hanging.
The suncatcher hangs from a strong silver chain which is securely attached to the wire rings at the top. I always supply a strong suction hook so it comes ready for you to hang. I attach the chain using split rings so you can replace it, maybe with a ribbon, quite easily.
If you wanted to hang outside you could attach to a solid surface, a door, fence using the two wire rings rather than hanging from the chain where they would be more vulnerable to the weather.
They are 14.5cm high excluding the length of the chain.
Please note that no two of my suncatchers are ever the same even to the same design. I deliberately don’t keep a record of the types of glass used so it is pretty impossible for me to make an exact match and that is my intention. I like all my pieces to be unique and I always use different combinations of glass.
