Description
These mugs have a wonderful clean freshness to them.
I first threw the body of the mug from a good white stoneware clay. When if had firmed to leather hard I turned the base and then added the handle which I’d pulled previously. The mug was then left to dry slowly to ensure that the handle join is strong. Once it was bone dry I fired it in the kiln to 1000C. I then glazed the mug with this gorgeous berry purple on the outside and moody clouds on the inside spilling onto the outside. The rim I glazed with an olive glaze for added interest. It was then popped back into the kiln and fired to 1240C; that’s hot.
I sign all my pieces with my initials, REJM. To me each one deserves to be acknowledged as individual.
The handmade nature of studio pottery, the unpredictability of the glaze reactions in the kiln makes all pieces unique. No two mugs are identical however you would receive one very similar to the mug in the photo.
I would hate my ceramics to get broken in transit so I make sure that all my parcels are very well packaged. I use a combination or recycled materials and reused packaging. Your items will come gift wrapped.
If you could quote a ‘safe place’ on your order for the courier to leave the parcel that would be great.
Postage and Packaging costs for this item will be £5.20. If you purchase any additional pottery from Absolutely Clay through The British Craft House, and in the same basket those additional items with be £2 per item and sent in the same parcel.
