Handmade Felt Bird with Lavender Craft Kit

A little bit of background to this kit…..I run a fantastic evening for the ladies called Fizz & Feltmaking and the project is my inspiration for this craft kit. The evening is fab, a group of ladies chatting, laughing, sipping fizz and creating! They always leave with a real sense of achievement and feel #ohsewproud. I have also led feltmaking holiday workshops with children as young as seven. A different end product and bourbon biscuits instead of fizz! They too go home happy and proud. Pre-lockdown I had an enrichment club at a secondary school and the (year 7 and 8) girls did this project as a Mother’s Day gift. They loved it but I’m not sure how many mum’s received the finished product!!!!

This craft kit is such a fabulous project and I love it! You will start by learning to make your own handmade felt using a lovely array of coloured merino wool fibres. This process is such fun and so accessible to all ages and with my photographic guide to help you, you just can’t go wrong!

The kit allows you to make choices about the design of your bird.  There are five different colours of fibres, two colours of regular felt and two colours of embroidery thread. Once your bird is made there will still be materials left over to turn your hand to something else!

After making your design decisions and cutting out your bird using the templates provided, you will start to sew it together. You will learn running stitch (for the wings/eyes) and blanket stitch to sew the front and back birds together. Finishing touches include inserting a ribbon (for hanging) and filling the heart with lavender (smells gorgeous!)

The kit includes all materials, small equipment and very detailed instructions for completing the project.

Felt is a wool/viscose mix  and the fibres are merino wool.

This is a fabulous little project for all ages (8+) and a great gift for yourself or a friend.

Once made, the finished bird measures approx 17cm x 13cm.

All care is taken to pack items securely so that they reach you in good condition. Oh Sew Creative products arrive in protective bubble wrap packaging.

All orders are posted via Royal Mail in the UK. Orders under £30 are sent by standard second class, unless first class has been selected.
Larger value orders are sent by the second class ‘signed for’ option, unless first class ‘signed for’ has been selected.

I aim to despatch all orders within three working days and will contact you if there is likely to be any delay.
All custom made to order products are despatched in 1-2 weeks or before if I can.

Refund Policy

With internet orders, customers have the right to cancel their order for a limited time (14 days), even if the goods are not faulty. Sales of this kind are known as ‘distance selling’.

I will make every effort to ensure product descriptions are as accurate as possible. But, if you are unhappy with your purchase, or wish to change your mind, please advise within 14 days of receiving them. I will be happy to arrange a refund of the goods.

Items should be returned to me undamaged and in the original packaging and box, fit for resale, within 14 days of contacting me. Unless agreed otherwise, the cost of returns are your responsibility. I will refund the order within 14 days of it’s safe return. I recommend you obtain proof of posting.

If you are unhappy with your item or it is damaged upon receipt, please contact me immediately and send detailed photos of the damage.
The item must be returned in the original packaging within 14 days for a refund. Proof of posting is recommended for your benefit. Once received I will be able to action a refund.
