Description
I love working from my garden studio. I threw this stoneware jug on my potter’s wheel and when is was leather-hard I turned the base to give it a neat finish. I pulled a handle and added it while the clay was still slightly damp, I then carved the seaweed design into the clay body and around the handle. After an initial kiln firing (bisque) at 900 degrees C, I glazed it with a shimmery heavy green glaze, it then went back into the kiln to be re-fired at 1250 degrees C, over another 3 days.
Inspiration
The majority of my work reflects my joy of diving and the deep blue. My pottery captures the mysteries of the sea, I’ve always had a Saltwater Spirit and love living by the coast. I want my art to invite you to touch and explore the forms.
Seize that sense of other-worldliness, a watery feel of sunken treasure.
Stoneware is extremely resilient and watertight.
This stoneware jug is foodsafe.
Wherever possible I use recycled packaging, it’s friendly to the environment and keeps the costs down. If this is a gift, please let me know and I will enclose a hand-written note with a personal message from you.
