Description
I love working from my garden studio. I pinched the shell form and sculpted into shape, then I rolled clay for the herb stripper and carved out the detail. After an initial high fire (bisque) at 900 degrees C, I dipped both parts into my favourite Ice Turquoise glaze and fired a second time at 1250 degrees C.
The stripper tool sits perfectly in the back of the sculpted dish. There is a selection of sized holes for various herbs to be stripped, simply pull through the slots and Voila! the herbs are sitting in your dish ready to be used.
Inspiration
Living by the coast I see so many varieties of shells every day. The ripple of the waves and the curves of the shells inspired me to create something really useful yet beautiful for the kitchen.
The majority of my work reflects my joy of diving and the deep blue. My pottery captures the mysteries of the sea, I’ve always had a Saltwater Spirit and love living by the coast. I want my art to invite you to touch and explore the forms.
Seize that sense of other-worldliness, a watery feel of sunken treasure.
