Description

This stoneware sculpture is totally unique and hand made, I sculpted the shells onto the main body to create the form of the sprite. the seaweed cloak has been textured and the under-skirt painted with a deep cobalt blue mixture then the porcelain barnacles were individually applied. The sprite was high fired (bisque) and then painted with a variety of green and rust glazes before going back into the kiln for a final firing.

Inspiration

Shells found along our shoreline sparked this creation. I intend her to stand proudly as a celebration of all that is coastal.

I use recycled packaging wherever possible… it’s good for the environment and keeps the costs down.
