Description
I love the sweet little stars at the hearts of the Wild Mallows. I used a sprinkling of raspberry red dye, and a little bit of jade green dye. There was also a dash of gold ink and a few pinches of salt in the development process. I used Hahnemuhle Buggra Bütten paper to create both cover prints.
I have to say that this is one of my favourite books! I absolutely love the feeling of summer which it evokes for me.
The inside covers are made using handmade tea Mitsumata paper from the Himalayan foothills of Nepal. Mitsumata plants are a sustainable and renewable resource. The book is stitched together with turquoise Irish Linen waxed 4-ply thread, purchased from the wonderful Bluebell Hill Crafts.
I used Coptic stitching to bind the book together. Coptic binding means that the book will lie completely flat when opened, which makes it perfect as a photograph album, and also for journaling or sketching.
The pages of this book were created using recycled A2 White Craft Card at a nice heavy weight of 220gsm, which makes it perfect for photograph albums. It would also work wonderfully well as an artist’s sketchbook … you can stick lots of great craft materials on this card for a beautiful finish. As it’s 100% recycled it has a slight texture to it which is great for crayons, pastel and paint work.
This book is unique and made entirely by hand.
