This red iridescent fused glass dragonfly is taking flight above the bullrushes in this fenland scene. Inspired by trips to the beautiful countryside of Norfolk and the fens and waterways of East Anglia.
The dragonfly has a deep red body with shimmering dichroic wings which catch the light offering a spectrum of colour including pinks, purples, turquoise and gold highlights. Differing textures of glass have been used to give this a tactile feel and well as highlighting the scene. The bulrushes are bronzed glass and denote the arrival of autumn when they will pop and scatter their seed into the air. The larger, coarse pieces of white glass create the border betwixt water and land.
The base glass piece is worked with fine and small pieces of glass using tweezers, with some good music playing in the background. Finally, the Dragonfly is returned to the kiln for fusing for the final time to be finished and ready for you to enjoy.
The pieces in the Dragonfly series are all unique and no two pieces will ever be the same due to the magic created in the kiln.
The black box frame measures 20cm x 20cm x 3.4cm.
