I use a variety of colours and textures which reflect the range seen in the seas off the west coast of Scotland. Often in the distance there will be a sailing boat and a misty island while in the foreground pastel pale sand, colourful pebbles or rocks feature.
The textiles are a mixture of recycled, repurposed or fabric samples. My emphasis in the seascapes lies in the variety of colours, keeping the stitching (usually both hand and machine) to a minimum. I use photographs, old calendars and greeting cards plus my own memories for inspiration.
The boat is created by assembling pieces of sea pottery, shell or seaglass until I am happy with the combination of colour, shape and texture. I then add waves and a seagull which bring the picture to life!
Other sizes of seascape will be available in the future, none just now. Please check back to the Drifted into Design shop soon.
The small seascapes are framed in a deep frame which can be hung on a wall or it can stand independently.
