Framed Scottish Highland Bothy wool felt fibre textile landscape art

This framed felt art, with various silk and flax fibres, depicts a view and atmosphere of the Scottish Highlands, and the wee ‘bothy’, or shelter, which are part of the landscape. I lay loose dyed merino on a base of hand washed and carded Sheltland wool. Silk noils and mulbury silk tops are layed to create texture and tone. The piece is then hand felted using traditional wet felting methods. Ince dry, needle felting is used to define, then free motion machine embroidery finishes the piece.

The art is 6″ x 6″, is mounted in 2inch white quality card and framed in ight grey wood measuring 12inches square. Personally I think they look their best without the glass, but this will be included.
