Description
The forget-me-not jar is such a joyous piece of pottery.
It would look great on the side as a display piece, and of course can store all sorts of goodies.
I threw it on the potters wheel and then let the clay harden before adding the flowers and turning the base to tidy it up. The flowers are both sweetly decorative and work as a discreet aid to gripping the jar. Once the clay pot had dried out completely, which can take a week or so, it was bisque fired in the kiln to 1000C . I then glazed it using a combination of two beautiful blues. It was then fired again to 1240C giving it both strength and durability.
This jar measures 16cm tall with the lid on and is 9 cm across the rim.
I sign all my pieces with my initials, REJM. To me each one deserves to be acknowledged as individual.
The handmade nature of studio pottery, the unpredictability of the glaze reactions in the kiln makes all pieces unique.
Shipping
I would hate my ceramics to get broken in transit so I make sure that all my parcels are very well packaged. I use a combination or recycled materials and reused packaging.
