The turband features a wrapped knot and bandeau fashioned by hand from luxury velvet fabric. Velvet has a wonderful texture so it’s the perfect fabric for creating dramatic turbans as well as for her easier to wear younger sister, the turband.
Using velvet I have created a one size turband that generously fits an average size head – from 20-23″/50-58cm – crafted around a light easy to wear and comfortable headband. When not being worn (unextended) the turband measures approximately 7.5″/19cm high x 6″/15cm wide overall x 3’/7cm across the arms of the turband, and also features an easy to wear internal metal headband for stability.
The headband is available in a range of colours and finishes, exclusively from my British Craft House shop: mhw_millinery, and looks gorgeous too finished with vintage appliques!
Wear and Care Guidelines
Dress to impress – this style features a couture elastic fitting to ensure the turband fits snuggly and securely on your head.
Positioning your turband – after placing the turband on your head, with the logo tag arm on the right-hand side adjust the position of the headband, then with one hand on the knot holding the turband in place, lift your hair to pull it carefully through the loop of the elastic. The elastic sits comfortably at the nape of your neck just below the hairline. Adjust to suit.
Care of your turband – this luxury velvet fabric is not washable, so please don’t use hair styling products in close proximity as they may stain the fabric. Remember too that the turband isn’t waterproof, so should be protected or removed if being worn in damp or wet conditions.
Shipping during COVID 19 – the box that this item is sent in measures 20x15x15cm., so Royal Mail categorise this as a “small parcel’, which needs to be taken to a sorting office. During the COVID 19 crisis, I am dropping small parcel deliveries off at our local Royal Mail sorting office on my weekly shopping trip. Once you place your order for your turband I will be in touch regarding despatch & delivery to keep you up to date on progress.
I do hope you enjoy wearing your turband as much as I enjoyed making it! I would love to see images of you wearing it so please post your images to Instagram and tag me mhw_millinery.
