‘Cotswold Lavender’ was created using dyed British wool tops, carefully laid down and hand needle felted into a pre-felt backing, using a barbed felting needle. The textures of the landscape are created by building up layers of wool, or adding specialist wool locks, which are curly in nature.
This painting was inspired by a visit to Cotswold Lavender, near Broadway in Worcestershire, where the fields are full of row upon row of stunning scented flowers.
The finished painting is stitch mounted onto art card and placed in an unglazed frame, allowing the viewer full appreciation of this textured textile artwork.
The textile painting measures approximately 21.5cm x 26cm.
The frame measures 28cm x 33cm.
