This is a hand-forged silver bangle, made with 4mm wide by 1mm thick sterling silver patterned wire, and featuring a beautiful piece of ice blue sea glass, set into a handcrafted fine silver bezel setting. Blue is one of the rarer sea glass colours.
The silver has been oxidised with an antique patina effect to add definition and enhance and highlight the floral pattern in the band.
The sea glass is a lovely pale blue colour, with a beautifully smooth surface and wonderful translucency. It is gently tapered towards one side, giving it an organic and tactile feel. The glass in the bezel setting measures approximately 18mm long, 11mm wide and 5mm deep at the highest point.
The band measures 6.7cm in diameter, with an inner circumference of 20.5cm, making it medium to large in size.
A Note On Bangle Sizing!
If you are unsure whether this bangle will fit, then it is worth double-checking just to make sure!
The sizing of fixed-loop bangles like this one (i.e. ones without a clasp) is actually dependant on the size of the hand, rather than the wrist. The easiest way to check for a suitable fit is to compare the internal diameter measurement with a bangle you already own and which you know fits comfortably.
Alternatively, you can make your hand into a tight fist, and measure the distance between the inner and outer topmost knuckles (the ones which are nearest the wrist). A tape measure is easiest for this, or you can use a strip of paper to mark the distance and then measure it against a ruler. The distance between the centre points of these knuckles should be similar to the diameter of the bangle – if the measurement is much greater it is likely the bangle will be too tight to get on. Similarly, if the distance is much less, it may be too loose when worn. Please feel free to message me if you are still unsure or would like me to try and help with measuring!

About The Sea Glass
Sea glass is broadly defined as glass which has been discarded into the oceans or on beaches, thereafter spending many decades being gently tumbled by the waves. This gives it the characteristic smooth edges and beautiful frosted appearance which defines it. Every piece of sea glass I use is authentic, genuine sea glass – the majority of which has been personally collected by me from the pebbly beaches along The Solent in Hampshire, where I live.
The quality and colour of each piece determines its rarity and subsequent value, and this will be described in the sale listing and if relevant reflected in the price. I will always try to show the colour as accurately as possible in images.
Each item of sea glass jewellery I make is totally unique and ‘one of a kind’ and will only ever be listed for sale once – the pictures you see here in the shop listing will be of the exact item that will be received by the customer.
All glass is carefully washed and checked for any sharp or rough edges prior to being used.
About The Jewellery & The Materials I Use
I mainly work with fine silver, 925 sterling silver and 935 argentium sterling silver. The latter is a fairly new alloy which is stronger, brighter, and whiter than traditional sterling and is highly tarnish resistant.
Argentium is also hypoallergenic, making it great for those who have an allergy to traditional sterling silver. I also use copper and brass in my work and often combine it with silver to create more striking mixed-metal designs.
PLEASE NOTE: In accordance with British law, all silver items over 7.78 grams will be hallmarked by The London Assay Office, complete with my maker’s mark ‘KAT’. The exact Hallmarking stamp for metal type will be governed by the lowest classification grade of silver in a piece, which in the majority of cases for my work will be 925 sterling silver. Items under 7.78 grams in weight are not required to be hallmarked by law, but any description will always accurately state the exact composition of metals used. For more information please see the London Assay Office Dealer’s Notice HERE.
Every item I make is handcrafted by me to my own designs. Due to the nature of the materials and techniques used, most pieces are unique and ‘one of a kind’, especially when featuring sea glass or other natural materials.
Honesty and accuracy is important to me and most things will be listed and photographed individually – if an item is described as being ‘one of a kind’ then the pictures you see will be of the exact item that will be received by a customer.
If I do create a design that can be accurately reproduced then I may make more than one at a time. This means the same images may be used on repeat listings, where due to the nature of handmade jewellery manufacturing methods there may be some very slight differences or variations between the item shown in photographs and the actual one received.
I will only do so if these variations are absolutely minimal, and in all cases you are always welcome to request more information or images for any item I have for sale before making a purchase.
All the jewellery I sell is handmade and as such requires special treatment to ensure its longevity.
Please take care to protect it from contact with such things as perfumes, hair sprays, moisturisers and cleaning fluids etc which may contain ingredients that can tarnish or otherwise affect the materials from which it is made. Bleach products in particular can very quickly tarnish silver metals.
Sea glass is somewhat toughened by the tumbling process it has undergone, but ultimately it is still glass and needs to be treated appropriately. In the event that it should become marked or scratched on the surface, a gentle cleaning with a soft brush (such as a toothbrush) and some soapy water should help fix this.
